Gatorade Inside Edge

The advertisement I chose to write about is the Gatorade “Inside Edge” commercial. I drink Gatorade almost religiously, in fact, I just had one. As a soccer player, I am expected to be able to do approximately 90 minutes of running each game. Gatorade helps me to stay hydrated and refueled to perform to the best of my abilities on the field. This commercial features Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City NBA team, professional tennis player Serena Williams, United States Goalkeeper Tim Howard, and Green Bay Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk. Gatorade was smart to use these athletes in this commercial because they are all dominating forces in their game. Basically, Gatorade is stating that if you drink their products you will perform as well as these athletes on the field. The purpose of this commercial is to make athletes commit to using Gatorade over other drinks such as Powerade or Vitamin water. Gatorade will most likely pitch their products to athletes because athletes have the highest risks of dehydration each year. Gatorade will keep an athlete hydrated and will also replenish their energy to keep them fresh throughout an entire game.

My Footprint

As humans, our footprint can be described as the contributions we make to the earth. Some contributions are negative, some are positive. After completing the Footprint Calculator, I was given 4.2 Earths. I was surprised by this number because honestly, I thought I would have received more. I am actually benefitting the earth more than I thought I was. An area I saw where I could reduce my footprint was my air travel over the course of a year. I wouldn’t say I fly “a lot” but I fly 2-4 hours a year. Because I live in Florida, I could consider taking local vacations at places such as the beach or historic areas like St. Augustine. This change would reduce my air travel and ultimately reduce my footprint.
